A little background on how I discovered CrossFit. In August, 2009 a friend recommended www.marksdailyapple.com to me and it completely changed my life. I’ve spent the last two years learning, changing and growing. My life and my families lives have all benefitted from changing our diets. We originally started following Mark Sissons The Primal Blueprint. Then four months into my new diet and research I learned about The Paleo Diet. Wow, another life changer. We went from Primal lifestyle to Paleo and we felt even better.
Every time I Googled Paleo, CrossFit popped up too. It was like they were one. Which lead me to really looking into CrossFit. As a personal trainer I already focused on small group personal training that had shorter workouts at higher intensity. So I knew I needed to try CrossFit. I started following the CrossFit main site WOD’s (workout of the day) and then I was hooked. I knew I needed to learn more and one day get CrossFit Level 1 Certified.
We moved to Tucson for a year and while we were there my husband and I joined CrossFit Northwest Tucson. Again, life changer. Great amazing, inspiring owners and coaches to learn from. Greg Walker, owner actually won the 60+ Masters division in 2011 and became the Fittest Man over 60 in the world. His wife Becky also in the 60+ division placed 8th for the women. So proud to have called CrossFit Northwest Tucson my home gym for a year. They taught me so much and inspired me even more to become certified which I eventually did in February, 2012.
I look forward to watching the CrossFit community grow in Anthem and helping my clients reach their lifestyle goals through proper training and nutrition.
I played Football through High School and College and I knew I wanted to be involved with Physical Fitness one way or another as my career. After training in “global gyms” until early 2012 I decided to start training clients on my own. I began using more CrossFit methods in my clients workouts as well as my own. CrossFit has become an addiction for me. It’s filled two big voids that were missing since College: Camaraderie and Competitiveness. Since I’ve started doing CrossFit myself and training clients, one thing has become very obvious… It works better than any other training I’ve ever seen! I think the camaraderie and competitiveness are the biggest reasons for that. All who do it are constantly pushing to get better at such a wide variety of exercises!
I joined IRONWOOD CrossFit as a trainer from its inception. The progress of the athletes as well as the camaraderie and sense of community make me proud to be a part of IRONWOOD CrossFit.
I think everyone is an athlete at heart and should train like one. Everyone should go to the gym to get better each day. If you go to the gym, you should go to be the best you can be.
I love fitness! For over 30 years I have worked as a trainer, manager, owner and group fitness instructor. As a former competitive gymnast, athlete and dancer, I learn that you have to tackle your goals in a systematic approach. In 2012 I found CrossFit and fell in love with it. I love to inspire people to reach their goals and CrossFit is a perfect vehicle for that purpose. My mantra is positive thinking, good nutrition, and functional exercise to achieve your personal goals.
